Davor Mikulić graduated from the theoretical department of the "Fran Lhotka" Music School in Sisak. At the same time, he enrolled in solo singing in the class of Prof. Marica Pernar. In 1989, he successfully passed the entrance exams at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and the Academy of Music in Zagreb. He continued his studies in solo singing at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, where he graduated in 1994 in the class of Prof. Ljiljana Molnar-Talajić. He was a scholarship holder of the University of Zagreb and the recipient of two Rector's Awards (1991 and 1993).

Pedagogical work

After completing his studies, he began working at the Music School in Celje, where he is still employed today as a professor of solo singing and chamber music in the primary and secondary music school. Alongside his successful pedagogical career, he also has concert performances, interpreting the German Lied, as well as operatic and operetta repertoires.

He professionally developed his skills at singing seminars with prominent pedagogues: H. Lazarska, H. Müller, G. Zeller, L. de Lisi, M. Hornbejker, R. Miller, B. Pearson. His students have won numerous awards at regional, national, and international competitions, including: TEMSIG (Slovenia); "Petar Konjović", "Lazar Jovanović", "Vocal Rhapsody" (Serbia); "Lav Mirski", "Stojan Stojanov Gančev", "Distant Chords", "Adriatic Chords" (Croatia); "Bruna Špiler" (Montenegro).

Some of his students have continued their musical journey at prestigious universities in Zagreb, Ljubljana, Klagenfurt, Newcastle, London...

Memberships and recognitions

He is an expert associate of the National Examinations Centre (RIC) for the field of music, specifically solo singing. As a leader of seminars on vocal technique, he has collaborated with the Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities (JSKD). He is an active member and one of the founders of the Association of Slovenian Singing Pedagogues (DSPP). As a representative of Slovenia, he has participated in the activities of the European Voice Teachers Association (EVTA) in Celje, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Mechelen, and Riga.

In 2020, the Association of Slovenian Music Schools awarded him the prestigious "Fran Gerbič" award for exceptional achievements in the field of music education and music reproduction.

He is frequently invited as a jury member at domestic and international singing competitions, including: TEMSIG (Ljubljana), Sobota Festival (Murska Sobota), "Lazar Jovanović" (Belgrade), "Vocal Rhapsody" (Belgrade), "Petar Konjović" (Belgrade), and "Lav Mirski" (Osijek).
